Behavioral Health Care Through TriWest
Members of the military experience life-threatening scenarios, difficult choices, and traumatic events at a much higher rate than the general population. When they return home, it is important that we take care of their needs, including any residual mental or behavioral health problems that their service may have catalyzed.
Negative outcomes of military service include substance use disorder and mental illness. Deployment is often associated with smoking initiation, heavy drinking, drug use, traumatic events, and risky behaviors. Over time, these problems can worsen into diagnosable conditions. However, zero-tolerance policies and lack of confidentiality often prevent military personnel from seeking the help they need. After discharge, the numbers worsen. More than one in ten veterans have been diagnosed with a substance use disorder, and even more struggle with depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

About TriWest
Founded in 1996, TriWest Healthcare Alliance is the only company of its kind. Its goal is to serve the health care needs of military servicemembers and veterans. For 17 years, TriWest administered the Department of Defense TRICARE program. Today, they offer access to quality provider networks and outstanding customer service through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network Region 4 and 5 contracts.
Many servicemen and women may wonder why they have begun receiving authorizations from TriWest. The VA has contracted with TriWest to administer their Community Care programs, which includes the PC3 program. This means that TriWest’s team builds a network, generates authorization letters, and pays claims on behalf of the VA for these programs. TRICARE, the VA, Medicare, Medicaid, and TriWest are all separate entities. Contact Hope by the Sea for help navigating the insurance verification process.
